Flown with Gemini 9, the Augmented Target Docking Adapter was supposed to serve as a practice for docking maneuvers. However when the astronauts rendezvoused with the spacecraft, they found that a strap that was used to hold the nose shroud together during launch had not separated and the shroud was still attached and partially open. The astronauts dubbed it "The Angry Alligator"
