Positioned to be the replacement for manned access to space for the United States, the Ares 1 is set to go into service in 2010.
Consisting of a five segment solid rocket for a first stage and a liquid fueled second stage the Ares 1 will launch the new Orion spacecraft to the ISS and also Lunar and eventually Mars missions. Research for this kit was aided by an engineer who is designing the actual vehicle.
The kit comes with two configurations to choose from: the orbital Orion, and the Lunar Orion (pictured) each have different service module configurations.
Decals have now been printed and are included in the kit.
